As my computer is over 5 years old already, you can probably guess how slow it has become. Also not being able to play any decent game annoys me even more. So after having saved up money I decided to buy a completely new selfmade system! I'll probably buy it at the end of this month (with photos and blog entrys!) or a bit later. What I want to achieve with this post are tips to make it better. So here we go:
My budget for the computer is about 1000€ [better would be 900€ :(]
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V
RAM: 8GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333 CL9
Cooler: Scythe Mugen REV B
Case: Fractal Design Define R3, Black Pearl
Graphic: Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti SOC
PSU: 550W Antec Truepower New
SSD: 128GB Crucial C300 Series
HDD: 2TB Samsung Ecogreen F4
Extra: Cheap Card Reader
So far I'm at 1000€.. I know the price could be reduced vastly by just leaving out the SSD, but they are soo godly! I'm pretty sure many of you here have a much better understanding of this, than me, so please go ahead and tell me what to do differently. Maybe arguments against an SSD, or a completely different approach on the matter? Who knows..
Yours sincerely
Noctis
Don't get an SSD yet
ReplyDeleteSounds good for that kind of budget. I personally got my pc 3 years ago for around $1000 and I don't plan on spending any more than that. I'm surprised my pc is still holding up well to the games today!
ReplyDelete(I have a Quad Q9450 w/ Geforce 250GT)
Thinking of getting a new computer myself, my laptop isn't too bad, but I just want something more powerful for games and stuff, though I'm generally bad at hardware so I'd have to be careful to buy stuff that's both decent and goes together.
ReplyDeletenew computer sounds good, i got a new laptop the other day
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty good line up you got. You'll be set for a while.
ReplyDeletei am looking forward to see your new system!
ReplyDeletedon't get an SSD, stick to a nice caviar black.
ReplyDeleteHow about making your own computer? also send us some pics if you've bought one!
ReplyDeleteFollowed you.
SSD is nice for quick booting and joining games quickly.
ReplyDeletei love the smell of a new computer
ReplyDeletewow it's cool!
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be no SSD, but you've already said you want it. Sorry can't be of more help. Good luck with the new comp!
ReplyDeletejust got my new lenovo.
ReplyDeleteIt's only when I read specs on what people are buying that I realize how old and outdated mine is.
ReplyDeletegoodl uck with the new computer, hopefully i will be getting an upgrade this year =)
ReplyDeleteI should change my computer too, mine is too old !
ReplyDeleteI have a solid state drive and I LOVE it. If you don't mind spending the premium, it is well worth it. Although I just bought a laptop that came with one so I didn't really have a choice.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a beast in the making. I would have to agree with the comments against SSDs though, their performance increase (not even noticeable in real-time) does not justify their price...yet. Just get a nice 10K RPM drive and enjoy your savings.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new comp. Followed!
ReplyDeleteyou got the plan! now the money!
ReplyDeleteGet a mac.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
New specs look good. I've been using the same computer for...oh...more than seven years, lol.
ReplyDeleteLlooking good man pretty awesome
ReplyDeletedamn man that looks sick. I dont have the money for that kinda stuff, or else i could run a better minecraft server Xd. :)

ReplyDeletesounds like a pretty good plan, a new computer like that should last some time.

ReplyDeleteOMG!
ReplyDeleteYou better be doing some serious gaming with a computer like that!
ReplyDeleteI am jealous bro!

ReplyDeletestill need a new computer. 6 years plus
ReplyDeleteNice cooler
ReplyDeleteYou just remind me that i need to buy more RAM :/ Anyways, pretty nice PC.
ReplyDeleteI'd skip the SDD to cut down the price, but that might just be me being a cheap ass :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice PC there.
ReplyDeleteI would personally get a SSD with one of the SandForce 2xxx chips on them.
I think a SSD as your OS drive will be AWESOME! I doubt you will regret it! :)
nice system but i think that ssd is a bit of a overkill.
ReplyDeleteNice machine, man. 8 GB of RAM? Woah.
ReplyDeleteThat computer looks very powerful :O I wouldn't get a SSD yet though.
